Valugram: Virtual Interaction With Real Time Reward
The digital arena currently serves as a popular platform for the execution of a brand’s Marketing efforts. The immediate nature, and popularity, of Social Media ensures that brands entering this space remain top of mind, with simple strategies being the most effective method to harness the power of engaging consumers.
One of the industries maximizing the characteristics of Twitter is the hospitality industry. Hotels in the U.S. have designated employees that track mentions of their establishment on Twitter.
Usually cross referencing the name of the tweeter with their guest list, employees try to either prevent complaints from gaining momentum, or create an impressionable experience. One such experience occurred at the Marriott in Orlando. A guest staying at the hotel tweeted: “At the Orlando Marriott World Center for RIM WES 2010 [a technology conference]. But I have the crappiest room in the hotel.” His tweet was picked up by a member of staff monitoring tweets mentioning the hotel; he was promptly offered an apology and a better room the following day.
As a component of the recent visit by the Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller, Jeff Arnett, the iKineo Jack team set up a virtual tasting using Twitter. The tasting was hosted by Jeff via social networking site, with a few key influencers accompanying him at a venue in Joburg. Details of the event were communicated via the newspaper, radio, mailers, and via tasting kits distributed to influencers with Twitter accounts. Details of the time and Twitter account were included in all communication for the event. The tasting served as a platform for the consumer to interact with the brand and, with Jeff’s presence, it made Jack Daniel’s seem more accessible.
