iKineo recently (temporarily) acquired a new addition. Some call them coffee-makers, errand-runners, or “Thing” ... we call them Interns.

We thought we’d pile on the workload by asking our shiny new Intern to write a profile for herself, and she approached it with great enthusiasm.

You’ll be glad to know that we’ve bothered to remember her name and don’t refer to her as “the intern” ... well not to her face anyway.. Her name’s Khahliso Santho and here’s what she’s had to say about herself:

Well, the road of an intern is never easy but filled with lots of challenges, excel spreadsheets and lots to learn. My foray into Ikineo began with a meeting on a cloudy, rainy Cape Town Friday afternoon with the founder and director Joshin Raghubar. I was nervous and had tried to cover my bad hair day under a white French beret. I should give that beret an academy award because here I am, working and firmly saddled into the intern chair. First I wanted to actually understand what’s with the name? Then Cia (a colleague…do interns have colleagues?) told me that it is derived from Kinetics (bingo, high school physics kicks in!) The art of motion and evolution, I guess it’s totally appropriate for the marketing world because it has to keep being ahead of the times, all the time. (I think I just came up with a slogan…do not use it, I did copyright law at university.) Talking about university,

I am a third year student at the University of Cape Town. I am currently doing film & media production, where I currently specialize in screenwriting. It has been fun but let me tell you, third year June exams were not polite to the soul, quite the contrary actually. I like the degree and actually working at ikineo makes me appreciate the degree even more because it is so super broad. The areas are HUGE. When you think about it everything we do is media because it is…what for it…drum roll please…communication. See that is the gist of what I have learned at university so far….don’t tell my lecturers. I hope to go into advertising as well as broadcasting. I want to perhaps find a career that bridges the two or just trail blaze my way there. Oh, I almost forgot I have a Daddio, Mumzie, Hermana(sister in Spanish). She is younger and is studying tourism, heritage and culture at the University of Pretoria. Gosh, I miss them they are currently in Ladybrand, just outside of Lesotho! The mountain Kingdom where I originate from and I just turned 21! A friend of mine told me to keep celebrating the entire year and I intend to do that….of course in a responsible manner.

At Ikineo everybody is busy, busy, busy and nice. I am currently at the back of the office with my avid reader colleague uDes. I hope to learn much more from the team about advertising and about branding…because aren’t we all just born to be brands. In the words of the great rapper Snoop Dogg ‘Keep up the shizzle homies’

Welcome to the team Khahliso!
